Jalyn Hancock, CCC-SLP
Jalyn is a bilingual (Spanish-English) licensed Speech-Language Pathologist holding her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). With experience providing bilingual communication support in home health, private practice, community centers, and public schools, she has developed a diverse skill set. Additionally, her background as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher enhances her understanding of language instruction and speech therapy for autism. Jalyn has worked with both monolingual and bilingual children and adults with various communication needs, including developmental delays and ADHD. She is also a Certified SPEAK OUT!® Provider and a certified P-ESL instructor, offering specialized accent training services to help clients achieve their communication goals.
Believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to communicate authentically, Jalyn embraces all forms of communication, which includes speech, voice, American Sign Language (ASL), body language, writing, and speech-generating devices. Her clinical interests lie in voice, parent education, and pre-linguistic therapy, and she is passionate about helping individuals and their families develop communication skills that support meaningful participation in everyday life.
Having learned Spanish independently, Jalyn understands the experience of wanting to communicate more clearly and confidently in a target language. This insight has ignited her dedication to providing culturally responsive care and supporting bilingual and multilingual clients as they navigate their communication journeys. Her ESL teaching experience has further shaped her understanding of language learning and the unique needs of individuals communicating across languages.
Jalyn earned her Master of Arts in Linguistics, along with a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), from the University of North Texas. She also holds a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Houston. Her educational journey included providing speech-language therapy services in Belize and the Dominican Republic, which deepened her commitment to accessible and culturally responsive communication support.
